A ceilidh (kay-lee) is a traditional celtic gathering of dancing, story telling and live music. It has long been the mainstay of Scottish and Irish celebrations.
The dances have a caller – someone who explains each of the moves, leads a walk through of the dance, and then calls the moves out during the dance. This means you don’t need any previous experience to take part, and it is suitable for children right through to your grandma!
Ceilidhs are perfect for so many social and community events – from weddings to birthdays, festivals to fundraisers. A ceilidh is perfect for breaking the ice, bringing a huge amount of energy into the room, and generally ensuring everyone has a great time!
At a KRELYS ceilidh you can expect a mixture of Irish, Scottish and Cornish dances, all explained by our friendly callers. Generally, we play 2 x 45/60 minute sets with a break in the middle, but we can be flexible to suit your event. Do let us know if there are any dances you particularly want to be included.
